‘COURT’ing MELODIESThe Music ConcertOn the 10th March 2010, the morning of the concert, the musicians of Claires Court Schools were preparing for the concert in the evening. There was a nervous anticipation amongst the musicians. The musicians had been rehearsing hard in order to prepare their best possible performance. There have been several music concerts in the past each getting better as this tradition evolved. Roach gets reportedMr. Roach, the head of the Music Department, at Claires Court was interviewed by two of his pupils about the up and coming music concert. In his interview Mr. Roach gave a confident confirmation on his expectations of the concert and that it should be of a good standard. In his answers he seemed confident that it would be a success as he mentioned that the pupils from both the boys and girls side of the school had rehearsed to perfection. Interview with Mr Roach During his interview with the two pupils he mentioned that there were quite a few pupils taking part in the concert ranging from years seven to sixth form members. He also added to his exploratory that there will be solos, groups, a samba band and two choirs performing. He told our interviewers that there was a year seven to nine choir and a year eleven choir. To continue his interview Mr. Roach was asked what instruments would be seen in the performances. To answer this question he replied with instruments that varied from voices to saxophones. He also added that there would be a brass group, drums and a varied group of people playing a variety of different instruments, giving the vibe that the concert is going to be full of different styles of music and have a lot of entertainment to keep the audience on their feet. After Mr. Roach had confirmed the instruments featured in his concert he continued giving our reporters information that we could not resist. He then explained in detail what songs his two choirs are going to sing and told us that the year seven to nine choir is to sing, From a Distance, and the year eleven choir is to sing, Don’t Stop Believing by Glee. He also mentioned that this song was to be accompanied by guitars. When we asked if this was going to be the show stopper, Mr. Roach only came up with a wide grin! To end the interview he was asked a short, challenging question. What is your favourite act? Mr. Roach answered with a precautious and secure answer, "I can’t really say, I hope they all do well."
. Claires’ KryptoniteThere seemed to be no weakness in the ever achieving Claires Court Schools’ Music Department on this day. The musical event began with the jazz band performing ‘Yesterday’ a Lennon McCartney masterpiece, followed by four solos from Tim, Simon, Katrina and Max. After their performances the saxophone group played ‘Petit Tango’ and ‘Jerk’. Then another three solos were performed. Afterwards the Brass Group performed ‘Swing Low’. Ben followed with ‘I Got Rhythm’ on the clarinet. The Samba Band play Brazillian Beats. The Year 7 to 9 Choir sang ‘From A Distance’ by Julie Gold. These were then followed by four amazing solos! A loud performance then came from the Samba Band who played ‘Brazilian Beats’ which included a solo from several members of the band that allowed them to stand out and show their talents. The penultimate solo was sung by Charlie and then the last solo was by Ethan. Then came in the Year Eleven Choir with the hit song ‘Don’t stop believing’ by Journey. Many members of the audience recognised it from the television programme ‘Glee’. The final act was an electrifying performance from the Electric Guitar Group who played ‘For Kicks’ by King of Leon.
. Looking ForwardThe Claires Court music concert was, as Mr Roach predicted, a huge success. All of the musicians played fantastically and the whole event was extremely well organised by the Music Department at Claires Court. We are all very much looking forward to the up coming concert, as we know that it can never be anything but brilliant! |
