Claires Court Schools - A Unique Education

Dramatic Weather Hits Part of Record

The BBC today is trying to achieve a Guinness world record for the largest weather forecast in the world; Schools from the Shetland Islands to St.Helena in the south Atlantic are taking part in this huge annual event.

One of the schools involved is Claires Court in Maidenhead. Claires court is hoping to break the world record on this occasion. Their previous six months have held some interesting weather, snow, sun, strong winds and rain. During January 2010, heavy snow caused the school to shut for three days. Rain also caused the football pitches to become water logged for a while; wind chill also stopped the sailors from sailing for a while due to conditions being too cold.

Patrick , Alex , Alex and Jack , a group of year nine students at Claires court have taken part in the attempt to break the weather world record. They took the temperature at their school in the shade of a tree and it came to four degrees centigrade, the wind chill made it feel colder.

In the summer of 2009, Maidenhead was hit by an unusually hot heat wave. This left Maidenhead and obviously England at 31 degrees centigrade. We fear that this is not the end of the heat waves in England. It’s possible that 2010 could hold some great weather for us.
