THANK YOU

THANK YOU to all Sixth Formers who helped make the Junior Girls Sports Day and the visit by the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead a great success.

The Year 12 students who volunteered to officiate and serve afternoon tea proved themselves to be invaluable. Everyone is hugely grateful to them all for their hard work.

The Mayor opened the new playground for pre and junior-prep pupils funded jointly by the School and the PTA.

INDUCTION EVENTS FOR NEW YEAR 12

Two very successful events at which we welcomed our propective new Year 12 Students on Tuesday 13 July and their parents the following evening. All our potential Student Leaders were dressed to impress and looked immaculate in their business suits and they were unfailingly helpful and friendly to our new faces. Thank you and well done to you all – it is going to make choosing our new Student Leaders even harder as it is so difficult to choose between the many excellent candidates.

EX HEAD GIRL LIZ TUNLEY FLIES WITH THE RED ARROWS

We would like to share with those of you who know our ex-pupil, Liz Tunley, her recent and very exciting experience, flying with the Red Arrows!!! Her full report will undoubtedly feature in a future Court Circular but, to explain, this opportunity was all part of the Cadet 150 celebrations to mark 150 years of the Cadet Movement. On 6 June 2010, there was a march by Cadets down The Mall followed by a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, during which the Red Arrows did a fly past. Liz was one of only seven cadets (from a group of 20 'hopefuls' chosen from the three cadet services) to actually be selected. It is worth noting that Liz has a fear of flying, not that you would know from seeing the photo!!

CLAIRES COURT ART & PHOTOGRAPHY HITS THE HIGH STREET!

We are delighted to announce that we have been able to utilise a shop unit in Nicholson's Centre in Maidenhead to mount displays of our art and photography. We anticipate that the exhibition will open on Thursday 29 July until 4 September. Watch the website for full details, and do please pay a visit!

CLAIRES COURT – 50 YEARS ON – MAIDENHEAD HERITAGE CENTRE 14 September to 10 October

An exhibition displaying the progress of Claires Court from its founding in 1960, will take place at Maidenhead Heritage Centre. Half a century in the town is a substantial period of time and we would encourage you to take this opportunity to see how Claires Court has developed over this period of time.

FAREWELL!

As our academic year in the Sixth Form at Claires Court comes to a close, we would like to thank the members of staff who will be leaving us this year. Going into retirement is Mr Roy Delpech who has completed 22 years with us as Head of Design & Technology and successfully introduced it at AS and A2 level; Mr Graham Maxwell our Captain of Sailing for 16 years. Going on to pastures new is Mr Dan Gillespie who has been with us boy to man (student to staff) and will be sorely missed by his form group and the P.E. department. Mr Robert Hannah has been a Sixth Form tutor for the past two years and taught both Critical Thinking and Government and Politics at AS level. We wish him good luck in his new position overseas. Many of our girls will also be sad to know that Mrs Joanna Woolliscroft is also stepping down as Director of Music at the College. We will, however, still see her from time to time as a peripatetic teacher of piano, cello and bass.
