Click here to download the booking form (PDF). Ofsted Inspection Report of Holiday Activities at Ridgeway Who Are We?We are Claires Court Schools, a group of independent day schools in Maidenhead operating from three sites around the town. Holiday activities are organised and run by the School utilising facilities, staff, students and procedures from within our own organisation. All the standards and procedures, which operate within our academic environment, are applied to our holiday activities; with the difference obviously being that the emphasis is on leisure and pleasure rather than academic achievement! Claires Court Holiday Club aims to provide holiday care that meets the needs of all children and their families alike. We have been operating for many years giving the Staff and Director a great deal of experience working with children and young people of all ages in a wide range of environments, so you can be confident that your children will be happy and have a great time with us. Claires Court Holiday Club is a great way for children aged 3-12 years old to really enjoy their school holidays. Fun and adventure are on the menu every day. The daily activity programme is carefully structured to balance high energy action games with calmer fun based activities like Art and Computer Games. Claires Court Holiday Club club is registered with Ofsted and works closely with Windsor and Maidenhead Early Years Directorate. You and your child therefore benefit from:
Parents GuideThe normal day starts at 9.00 am and finishes at 4.30pm Mini Kidz is for children aged 3 to 6+ years. It runs on a flexible time scale dependent on the interaction of the children and their attention spans. They start the day with free play and then participate in a range of activities. Kool Kidz is for children aged 7-12 years. It operates a more structured programme offering children the opportunity to choose activities from a limited selection on a daily basis. They start the day with a team game then filter into their chosen activity groups on a rota system. Activities: Our programme always provides a wide range of activities from sports to art and crafts and computers to drama and dance.. Clothing: Children should wear play clothes and if you have one, an old shirt or apron for arts & crafts because the children can get very messy! Please do not bring valuables or treasured items. We take great care of the children and find it difficult to look after expensive belongings too! Costs: Booking /guidance notes and cost calculators are contained on the booking sheet. The costs for extra activities, outings, extended days and lunches etc are shown on the booking sheet. Extended day sessions are available from 8.00 am to 6.00pm (5.30 on Fridays) at an additional cost of £1.50 per family per half hour session. Please ensure you sign for your child when collecting from the end of day sessions. External Activities: All instructors and venues for instruction are professional organisations and are well known to and vetted by the school. First Aid: Staff receive basic first aid training with many staff holding a Paediatric First Aid Certificate, in addition there is always a fully qualified first aider available on site. We have incident/accident reporting procedures in place. Lifeguards are on duty when children are using the school swimming pools. Lost Property: Please ensure all articles are clearly labelled and discourage your child from bringing valuables. Lost property will be held for four weeks and thereafter donated to charity. Lunch on outings: When a packed lunch is required for outings it should be provided in a disposable carrier bag with disposable containers, thus relieving your child of being responsible for extra 'luggage' all day. Meals: We offer cooked meals, weekly menus are provided. Children may prefer to bring a packed lunch. Children are provided with water, squash and a fruit snack at all break times. Outings: Our regular contractor transports children on main outings in their coaches. These are all fitted with seat belts and ample supervisory staff accompanies the children. Those who do not wish to take part in the outings, remain on site with a full programme continuing to operate. Staff: They are in many instances our own teaching staff, past pupils who are now under - graduates or sixth form students. All are known to us and have been fully vetted including a police check. These young people work long and hard with all the energy and enthusiasm you could wish to see. Sun Cream & Sun Hats: Please ensure your child has an adequate supply of sun cream with them and a sun hat. We try to keep vigilant eye on them during the hotter sunny days but it helps if the older children are sufficiently aware to carry and administer their own sun cream. Swimming: When we are based on the College site children will normally have the opportunity to swim. Please supply your child with a towel and swimming costume if you would like them to swim. Transport: Transport to other activities and outings is usually in our own minibuses driven by staff who have undertaken minibus safety driving training. On occasion we may also use the RBWM outdoor education team who have their own minibuses that have seat belts fitted and driven by trained staff. Contact Us

Summer 2008
The best summer ever starts right HERE!
This summer's programme is packed full of exciting, fun activities to entertain young people during the summer holiday. Claires Court Schools' Summer Holiday Club runs from 14th July - 29th August with a wide range of activities, professional visitors and coaching sessions on offer.
This summer all the activities are included in the daily cost with no extra charge for any of the special events. We are continuing to offer a wide range of options to children attending the Holiday Club. Our main aim is to ensure children are having fun and playing, providing a good way for them to develop their social, creative and physical skills whilst giving everyone the chance to participate in activities they enjoy.
Our caring and nurturing environment is ideal for our youngest children. Our specialist visitors will work with our Mini Kidz building skills in all areas and wherever possible we encourage the younger children to have a go at all the activities adapting the activities where appropriate.
Most days we will be offering choices from the following programmes:
The College has its own indoor pool giving Claires Court Holiday Club exclusive access every day. All children have the option to take part in one of our water-based activities at least once every day as well as an opportunity for a recreational swim (please ensure your child has swimming kit if they want to swim). They are accompanied by staff in the pool and a lifeguard is on duty at all times. We will be offering a range of activities in the pool to include:
If your family loves outdoor adventure, this is a perfect way to go wild. Our Eco Adventures offers a wide array of activities from bug hunting, worm farms and hanging baskets to camp building and wide games.
Don't miss the opportunity to meet our well-trained guides who will be able to point out what's special about local flora and fauna. They'll answer all of your kids' questions - and yours, too.
Our new golfing equipment will give you the opportunity to practice your pitching, putting and drives. Come and see how you fair on our new golf course, and whether you are up to par with the crazy golf challenge. Nearest to the pin longest drive and chipping and putting competitions.
We have our own specialist Art Room where we will offer Arts and Crafts every day. All ages are exposed to opportunities for artistic self-expression and creativity. Our talented art educators work closely with children, providing the guidance and direction to help them initiate, develop and complete all types of artistic projects. There is always more than one project from which to choose.
We are delighted to welcome Dance Mania to our weekly programme. Each week professional dancers from Dance Mania will offer a mixture of Hip Hop, Cheerleading, RnB & Street Dance. We are sure the classes will be very popular and attract a strong crowd from complete beginners through to professionals.
The Oxford Trust is pleased to be involved with Claires Court Holiday Club and has agreed to lend equipment for running various science workshops and activities. Each week there will be a different set of equipment with lots of opportunity to try it out. The equipment will include:
Wednesdays are when Holiday Club transforms itself into the theme for the day. Each week we have a different theme with children and staff encouraged to dress in the appropriate theme. The day consists of games, challenges, contests and activities with the chance to win prizes including a prize for the most creative costume. See the programme for each week's theme.
With lots of activities on offer, sometimes children need some 'chill' time without being organised and directed. We provide an area to chill and enjoy activities such as videos, card games, board games, reading, colouring activities, paper folding, hama beads and many more quiet activities. Available throughout every day.
The programme below gives the main highlights and hopefully helps you plan your visits. The activities shown are not the only opportunities on offer each day. There are four main sessions each day and children will have up to three choices for each session.
We are delighted to announce that crash courses in swimming are being held over the Summer period at The College pool as part of the Claires Court Holiday Club programme.
The holiday crash courses provide an opportunity for children aged 3 years and above and of all abilities catering for the absolute beginner to the accomplished county swimmer to develop their swimming skills.
Each course runs for five days with half hour swimming on each day. The courses run for four weeks starting on 21st July, and cost £35. To secure a place you must complete a booking form and send your payment. If you attend Holiday Club on the day of your lesson we will deduct £7 from your Holiday Club fee making your swimming lessons FREE.
For more information, or to book for the swimming crash courses, please download Crash Course Swimming Lessons letter.

DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO ATTEND FOR A FULL WEEK?
Not at all. Children can attend for single days, multiple days, full weeks, or the whole holiday period - whatever suits you best.
WHAT TIMES DOES THE HOLIDAY CLUB RUN?
Please ensure that your child(ren) are dropped off by 9.00am, so that they are ready to start the activity programme at 9.30am. We often have prize giving ceremonies at the end of each day and would therefore request that parents do not collect their children before 4:30pm to avoid disappointed children. Our Extended Day is available from 8-9:00am – 4:30 -6.00pm (5:30pm on Fridays). During this time, the children will be fully supervised and able to enjoy various activities. Please note that we reserve the right to charge an additional fee if children are not collected by 6:00pm (£5 per additional 15 minutes). Parents running late are asked to call 01628 687440 at the earliest possible opportunity so that we can advise the staff accordingly. The phone is manned at most times but if you have to leave a message on the answer phone we will return your call as soon as possible. Our staff work very hard for us, but they are only paid until 6:00pm; we therefore kindly request that parents respect this timing.
HOW IS THE DAY STRUCTURED?
Each day is divided into different activity sessions, plus time for supervised morning, afternoon and lunch breaks. In addition to the activities highlighted on the timetable, options are given to children on a daily basis and are likely to include a choice from arts and crafts, sports games, computers, swimming, drama and board games.
WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR?
Children should wear clothes suitable for outdoor and indoor activities and craft sessions - for example - tracksuit, T-shirt and shorts, non-marking trainers and preferably another pair for outdoor use, swimwear and an apron/old shirt for creative sessions. Please mark all clothes clearly with your child's name, to assist in the return of lost items.
WHAT ELSE DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BRING?
Please send your child with swimming kit, and a sun hat and sun cream for hot weather. Please ensure that sun cream has been applied before your child(ren) arrives. Unless you advise us to the contrary, we will remind and assist the children in applying the cream. All equipment is provided for all activities.
WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD NOT BRING?
Please ensure that children do not bring valuable toys and belongings, including Game Boys and mobile phones, as we cannot be held responsible if they go missing. If it is essential for a child to have a mobile phone to contact home, this will need to be handed to staff for safekeeping. If children are found to be using them during activities staff will keep them until the end of the day. Please note that there is no need for children to have money with them. We regret that we will not be able to compensate for any items lost on site.
CAN MY CHILD CHOOSE WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO DO?
Over 7's have Options sessions each day where they will be able to pick which activity they wish to do from a selection offered. For the rest of the day they follow a planned timetable. For the younger children, the timetable will include a selection of activities including - Sports & Action, Design & Creativity, and Games & Relaxation. The activities will be targeted to the relevant age groups. Children will be encouraged to join in activities but no child will be forced to do an activity that he/she does not want to do.
WHAT IS THE RATIO OF STAFF TO CHILDREN?
The under 8’s always have a 1:8 staff ratio in accordance with Ofsted regulations. The over 8’s have 1 or 2 staff members per group dependent on the activity. We aim for an overall staff ratio of 1:10.
WHAT ABOUT SPECIAL MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS?
Individual medical requirements are not unusual. Our staff are experienced in recording and carefully supervising participants who need medication. Please ensure any medication is clearly labelled.
WHAT’S THE FOOD LIKE?
Our kitchens are serviced by experienced catering staff that consider the needs of the children and serve up nutritious, tasty meals each day. Individual dietary requirements can be met if requested prior to attending the Holiday Club.
These terms and conditions apply to the contract between parents and Claires Court Schools Limited for the provision of Holiday Club services. These terms and conditions do not apply to other out of school care services which Claires Court Schools Ltd makes available. Within this document the following definitions apply:
Holiday Club the generic name for out of school care services provided by Claires Court Schools Ltd which take place when school is out of session (i.e. during school holidays at half term and the end of term).
Principal One of the Principals of the Claires Court Schools Group or their authorised deputy.
Care Manager The manager with operational and administrative responsibility for the service.

1 APPLICATION & REGISTRATION
2 ATTENDANCE
There is no minimum attendance as long as there are places available but attendance must be booked in advance. Parents should advise the Care or Playwork Manager in writing of intended absences. Where a child does not attend a booked session no reduction of fees is normally due.
3 ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE
Children should be brought at the booked time and positively delivered to a member of staff at the Holiday Club check-in. Children are to be collected promptly at the time they are booked till. Where a different person will be collecting the child, the parent must ensure that the Playwork Manager is made aware of this beforehand in writing. If a child remains uncollected at the end of the extended day provision the Playwork Manager will act in accordance with the Holiday Club Collection Policy.
4 SPECIAL NEEDS
Each child entrusted to the Holiday Club is recognised as an individual whose character will become well known to the Holiday Club staff with time. However parents know their own child much better than the Holiday Club staff ever will and it is required that parents fully advise the Holiday Club staff of any behavioural or medical problems. Where the child needs medicines to be administered the Holiday Club provision has established routines which must be followed by parents and which include the requirement for specific written instructions and for labelling of medicines.
5 IN LOCO PARENTIS
Parents must recognise and accept that while the child is at the Holiday Club the Holiday Club staff may act in loco parentis in the absence of the parent. Where possible the staff will contact the parent at the emergency contact telephone number advised but this will not prevent the Holiday Club staff from taking suitable action in loco parentis.
6 CHARGES, PAYMENT & CANCELLATION
Holiday Club charges are based on the type and number of sessions booked in each week. A schedule of charges is normally issued with the booking form. Full payment for Holiday Club is due at the time of booking. Holiday Club does not send reminders and reserves the right to cancel bookings and charge the appropriate cancellation fee where necessary. All cancellations must be received in writing, and will be confirmed in writing by the Holiday Club.
7 REFUND
If a booking is cancelled by the parent, the following refunds apply. Up to 14 days prior to the booking a full refund will be made. 14 to 7 days prior to the booking 50% of fees will be refunded. 7 days to 1 day prior to the booking 0% of fees will be refunded.
