BBC’s 2010 School Report — Claires Court News

Reporters from the Claires Court Year 9 made the most of the stories breaking within the School community on the morning of Thursday 11 March 2010.

The target — to write some compelling copy, take great pictures and illustrate with movie clips at least 5 big news stories. The day started with the Geography department participating in the BBC attempt on the World biggest weather report, with the team neatly choosing Janet Brewer, the lead fund raiser for Alexander Devine Cancer charity as their Independent witness. Janet was in school for a totally different reason, to collect 4 celebrity graffiti pictures to assist in the Hospice's fund raising (see BBC School report 2009), to thank the school in person for their efforts, and to point them at some new ways to raise extra funds. Janet witnessed members of the Under 14 Rugby Berkshire cup–final receive their medals, having narrowly lost the previous afternoon 5–10 to a strong St Bartholomew’s side from Newbury. The reporters also captured the term’s biggest music event the previous evening, to which over 100 adults attended to watch a very wide range of Claires Court’s talent on offer. The best movie on show was that produced by Jamie and Ollie, who showed the report team how they made their amazing animated Biology revision movie.

Closing the report teams down at 1pm, Mr Barry Olivier, head of English thanked the teams for making the tight deadline of 1pm. "No easy task to capture the school’s news, but I am sure all the reported learned a lot from their efforts!"
