School Bulletin: Summer Term 2012 - Week 11 - Ridgeway

Download this bulletin including all sports information as a pdf.

The set hot lunch for next week will be Week 1 of the Summer Term Menu although Thursday's
meal will be fish fingers/breaded chicken strips, chips and peas instead of the roast pork.

Congratulations go to a team of Year 6 sportsmen this week. In a term where cricket opportunities have been greatly curtailed, a group of Year 6 boys performed excellently at the ISA Festival of Sport in Nottingham last weekend, the ten boys earning a whole host of medals between them! Read more about it later in the Bulletin.

Today all the boys will be taking part in their sports day and we hope the showers will not be too heavy or prolonged, but will allow the boys to enjoy their athletics.

We now have a busy last week of term to look forward to with the Olympic Torch Relay on Tuesday, Concerts and Prize Giving on Wednesday, International Picnic for the pre-prep on Thursday, Year 6 Leavers Assembly also on Thursday and end of term at noon on Friday.

Reception Visit to Beale Park - 4 July

A full write up will follow in next week's bulletin.

Year 1 Visit to Windsor Castle - 5 July

Year 1 enjoyed a memorable visit to Windsor Castle on Thursday. After looking round St George's Chapel they watched the changing of the guard and listened to the band. A kind policeman allowed the boys to stand across the road as they were so impeccably behaved and this afforded a wonderful view of the bands and the guards leaving the castle. The boys were inspired and ‘marched’ to the Education centre where they listened to a talk and all tried on various pieces of child size armour. They ended the day by looking round the State Apartments inside the castle and departed by quickly running under the murder holes in the gateway roof! Mrs Murphy was delighted by the boys' excellent behaviour and received a compliment on how well they behaved they were from another visitor to the castle.

Cricket Photos

The cricket team photographs were given out to boys yesterday. A charge will be placed on your end of term bill for the photo/photos. Should it not be required then please return it to the Ridgeway Office by MONDAY 9 JULY. Unless returned we shall assume that you wish to purchase it.

Mindlab

Mrs Vine is offering an additional Mindlab lesson on Tuesday 10 July to make up for the week that she was unable to do. Please be reminded, however, that there are no late coaches during the last week of term so your son will need to be collected from Ridgeway at 5pm.

After School Activities

There are no more activities this term (apart from the Mindlab lesson mentioned above.). The activity form for the autumn term will be distributed on the first week back.
