The revival of the Boulters to Bray Swim on Saturday, the brainchild of Head of Rowing Tom Jost, was a great success. Not only did Mrs Burdett compete alongside Tom and 120 other competitors a number of staff and Sixth Form students also volunteered their time to assist with the event either as first aiders, lifeguards or marshals.
Miss Lunney would like to thank the following for all their help: Mr Rayer, Mr Bevis, Dr and Mr Meek, Miss Parker, Mrs Drennan, Mrs Selzer, Mrs and Mr Whetton, Mrs Ellis, Mr Crawley, Josh Harris, Elliot Stokes, Rory Kempson, Simon Morin, Jenny Moores, Ben Ratcliff and Harry Janes. Results and photos are up on the website www.maidenheadswim.co.uk
An exciting and interesting programme has been arranged for the Year 12 students for the last week of term. The details are given in a separate sheet attached with this Bulletin. Please note that those students who have applied as Student Leaders are expected to attend for the new Year 12 Induction Day on Tuesday 10 July from 9.30am - 3.00pm, and again in the evening for the New Parents’ Information Evening from 6.30pm - 8.00pm.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our School body to see this event and all our pupils with the exception of Nursery will be part of the celebration. For those who live near Maidenhead bridge, our rowers will be lining the bridge with their blades and this should be a spectacular sight with the torch running across the bridge.
The Sixth Form will have our the Year 12 students with us that day and we will be escorting them down to Marlow Road to see the torch pass.
Monday 3 September – Registration Day
Wednesday 5 September – Year 12 Alis testing and Study Skills
Thursday 6 September – Start of Term.
Friday 7 September will include games sessions so students should come equipped for their chosen sport. There is no specific “uniform” required for Sixth Form sport, just sensible kit.
At the beginning of term there will be opportunities to try various sports.
So far we have raised about £1000 towards our target of £3,200 needed to build the library. A big thank you to those who have already brought in sponsorship money or made donations and can we urge those who have not yet done so to visit the website http://www.justgiving.com/Claires-Court-Schools to make your contribution. We ran past our target and ended up in Birendranger in the mid west region of Nepal!
Mrs Rogers
Sports Leaders and other Sixth Form helpers did a fantastic job in helping to run the Senior and Junior College Sports Days. Their help was invaluable and we have had so many appreciative comments from parents and staff.
Please remember to return all library books before the end of term. To help, a special ‘Amnesty Box’ will be available outside the Senior Library from Monday 9th July. Just leave all your loans in the box and the Librarians will make sure your accounts are cleared.
