Claires Court Schools/Art on the Street Award

We were delighted to make the presentation of the Claires Court Schools/Art on the Street Award earlier this week at the Rendezvous Café in Maidenhead Town Hall. The clear winner of this award was the Slough Arts Group who were delighted at their success. The next Art on the Street will take place in Maidenhead High Street on Saturday 12 May when you will find not only some terrific art (including that of our own pupils and students), but also art workshops, craft workshops (run by Claires Court) as well as entertainers. Put the date in your diary and come and enjoy all the delights on offer.

7 Steps to Success

To succeed in anything, including taking your exams, remember to follow these 7 steps:

  1. Remember the big picture — what are your plans beyond Sixth Form?
  2. Believe in yourself — if you think you can, you can!
  3. Don't be afraid to make mistakes — but learn from them!
  4. Do it for yourself — after all, it is your future.
  5. Take responsibility — you cannot blame anyone else for your results.
  6. Have a plan — where do you want to be next year, in five years?
  7. Be proactive — take control and make the things you want to happen, happen!

Study Leave

Year 12 students will commence Study Leave from Monday 14 May 2012 and a letter has been sent to parents giving more details of the arrangements for the end of the Summer Term.

Year 13 students will leave us for their study and examination period on Friday 1 June 2012. There will be a ‘Leavers’ Assembly, a farewell BBQ and students will be dismissed by 12 noon. Between now and 1st June we are allowing Year 13 students to use Wednesday and/or Friday afternoons for home study instead of games, if they wish. Those students who have indicated this to us have been given a letter to take home with a permission slip that must be returned as soon as possible if they wish to be allowed home study.

Car Parking and Litter

Sixth Formers who drive to school are reminded to take care not to block (or partially block) the driveways of nearby houses. College Road and College Avenue are heavily used for parking by parents, staff and students and we must always be considerate of local residents and their requirement for access at all times.

Local residents have also mentioned the fact that more litter appears in College Avenue during term time than in holiday time! Sixth Formers are one possible source of litter in the streets – could you all try to minimise litter (drinks cartons, wrappers, etc.).

Colour printer cartridges

If your printer uses HP57 Colour Injet cartridges, HP 364XL photo or HP 58 photo cartridges you are in luck! We have two of each of these, sealed in original packets, in the Sixth Form office for £5 each. Those of you who normally buy these cartridges will know that this is an enormous saving so the first people to see Dr Meek with the money will be able to buy them.
