Meet the Head & Pupils
Head of Junior Boys
Having worked as a senior leader within schools for 11 years and now in his 21st year of teaching, Justin Spanswick shares his vision and what drives his passion to bring out the best in his pupils:
"Knowing I have the opportunity to play a part shaping a boy’s future is a privilege; the reward is the smile on the pupil’s face when he proudly shows me his outstanding work."
WHAT ARE THE VITAL INGREDIENTS FOR A GREAT EDUCATION?
Having inspirational staff, a clear school ethos that underpins all of our values and a forward thinking approach as to how pupils can learn in this fast paced world. We have all of this.... plus a touch of sparkle provided by our fantastic, enthusiastic pupils!
WHAT MAKES JUNIOR BOYS SPECIAL?
We know our pupils very well and therefore understand how to get the best out of them academically, on the sports field, in the arts and as people growing up in society. Our pupils' academic achievements are extremely high and we work hard to ensure they are consistently challenged in all areas of school life. I feel that we have the perfect balance between working hard and playing hard. Boys are treated as individuals and we value their contributions. Above all we ensure that they are happy and provide the best possible environment for them to achieve their best, and ultimately fulfil their dreams."
WHAT’S YOUR APPROACH to EDUCATING Young PEOPLE?
I always take the time to listen, be open and honest and not afraid to show young people that I also make mistakes and learn from them. I am approachable, kind and fair with all pupils which allows me to build a strong relationship with each boy where there are clear boundaries and expectations for behaviour. I place an emphasis on good manners and respecting others, at Claires Court we feel these traditional values hold a significant place in today's society. I like to think I impart knowledge the way I would have liked to hear it.
