Music & Drama - Creativity and Expression - key skills for life

Violin Player

The creative arts play a major part in life at The College.

From Reception upwards our girls put enormous amounts of enthusiasm and effort into all manner of shows - whether they are acting, singing, playing in a musical ensemble or even putting on a fashion show.

Educationally there are many benefits in terms of the self-discipline needed to perform in a professional manner and in the encouragement of creative thinking. Best of all, the girls find it hugely enjoyable and stimulating and it does wonders for their self-confidence.

Music

We encourage everyone to understand and enjoy music. Many of our girls will take the opportunity to learn one or more musical instruments in addition to the percussion and recorder lessons they receive as part of our music curriculum. Others may use their singing talents in one of our choirs.

There is always a busy schedule of activity: the choirs perform in many venues including the Royal Festival and Albert Halls; our instrumentalists work with our choirs and with our musicians at Claires Court.

The girls can choose to study music to GCSE level or for the grade exams of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music or of the Trinity College of Music.
