Year 12

Sixth Form Curriculum - Art

In Year 12, Advanced Subsidiary (AS) courses build on previous GCSE successes.

Some students choose to follow 4 AS courses while others prefer 5. Those who wish to improve GCSE grades in core subjects such as English and Mathematics may perhaps concentrate on 3 AS courses.

There are many opportunities for games, general studies and physical education, as well as fieldwork, trips and residential experience. During the Summer, Year 12 students sit AS examinations, attend University entrance (UCAS) tutorials, undertake visits to University departments and, where necessary, further work experience.

Year 13

Sixth Form Students

In Year 13, most students specialise in three subjects and pursue their studies at A2 Level, claiming 3 full Advanced Level grades (AS+A2) for University entrance (via UCAS).

UCAS submissions are generally made in October and at this stage it may be possible to become part of our exchange arrangements with the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. University interviews are normally conducted in the spring and final A2 examinations take place in May and June.

Careers/University advice

Our careers service is always on hand to assist our students in choosing the course or university that is right for them. We help with the completion of UCAS application forms and advise and coach in interview skills. We also keep parents and students informed of sponsorship schemes that may be of interest.

Students who are aiming for Oxbridge or medical school are given help with the extra preparation needed.

On the other hand our students may decide to follow a career option. Here we can advise on work experience schemes and vacation work options.
