Enrichment - Extra-curricular Activities
Our students are encouraged to exercise their leadership skills by serving on the Sixth Form committee to organise and provide facilities for their common room, Christmas socials and black tie events. We have a strong tradition of fundraising for charity, with the emphasis on the 'fun'. Recent events include a parachute hump for MIND and the RNIB team assault course challenge at Sandhurst. Drama and Music productions offer opportunities to star, work backstage, direct and produce... as well as opportunities to follow a course of advanced academic study through Drama, Music and Music Technology. Alternatively, students can simply join the Sixth Form theatre and concert activities group. In the Sixth Form, our students have access to the superb sports and club facilities available throughout Claires Court Schools. Our "Sport for All" tradition not only ensures that we offer students external sporting competition in Athletics, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Netball, Rowing, Rugby, Sailing, Sculling, Swimming and Tennis to list our main fixtures, but also ensures that gym and exercise studio opportunities present themselves every week so that fitness in body is encouraged as much as fitness in mind. International sporting tours to the USA and South Africa are organised for both Y12 and Y13. We also encourage our students to choose a 'personal challenge'. This could involve setting up a Young Enterprise Company, taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, volunteering for a charity or even publishing the school magazine. Our students go on to a wide range of challenging careers. We remain a part of their lives through our old pupils society, the Clarions, which has developed an annual calender of events for our strong network of old boys and girls. We are also delighted every year to welcome the children and more recently the grandchildren of old boys and girls into our Nursery. |
