Drama

Drama is for all at Senior Boys, it is through this medium that many boys learn to communicate and express themselves.
Many are confident to take centre stage, whilst others find their skills lie at working behind the scenes designing and creating scenery or as a techie, learning the ropes for the amazing light and sound needed at our major performances.

Drama is taught within the curriculum and is also enjoyed as an extra-curricular activity. In Years 7 and 8, pupils delight audiences with their end of year Drama Festivals, these montages are a great showcase of the boys’ developing performance skills and confidence.

The Drama Department regularly organise theatre trips to local and West End theatres that will add to your son’s theatrical and cultural experience.

Music

From enthusiastic beginners to accomplished musicians, boys are strongly encouraged to explore the musical world, discover new music that suits their tastes, and engage with it actively wherever possible to support their progress, both musically and developmentally.

With a wide variety of extra-curricular activities available at Claires Court (including the Claires Court Choristers, Senior Boys’ Voices, Guitar Ensemble, Mixed Instrumental Ensemble, and IT in Music), there are many opportunities for boys to participate and contribute to the musical life of the school, while a programme of informal and formal performance platforms across the year allows them to showcase their hard work and share in the experience with others.

Ensuring that boys have access to instrumental lessons is a significant priority, and so we strive to ensure that our provision is of the highest quality. As such, our lessons are delivered by professionals from a committed team of visiting peripatetic staff, all of whom come to us with a wealth of performing and teaching experience.

Art

Our boys' impressive artwork can be seen on display throughout the school.  Our teachers inspire our boys to be independent thinkers and by being shown how certain materials work, your son will be encouraged to make his own decisions producing some incredibly creative compositions. With such motivational and driven teachers, it is not surprising year on year we win prizes at the ISA Regional Art and Craft Competition.
