Mr Spanswick's Words Summer 11

Rehearsals have been the order of the week, and I hope that I will be able to see many of you at the Reception - Year 2 production on Tuesday morning, and at the Year 3-6 production and Prize Giving on Wednesday afternoon. These events always close our academic year with such enjoyment and celebration.

We are about to embark on Year 6’s last week with us. Many of the boys have been in the cohort since Reception, and they are already preparing their farewell speeches and hopefully enjoying being part of the Junior Boys school for the last time. However, once a part of the CC family, you are always part of it, and I know many of them will come back to visit us, and visit frequently! They have been a wonderful year to look after, and we are all going to miss them greatly.

I hope you enjoy some of the snapshots of the week in our gallery - I look forward to seeing you at one of our events very soon.

Well, it’s certainly been hot! At our Reception New Boys Day yesterday, we had to keep the little ones in the shade as much as possible so ferocious was the direct heat of the sun. Please do remember to put suncream on your son before he comes into school - it is always advisable to have one good layer on that can be topped up as the day goes on.

The boys have been taking advantage of the weather, with trips to Windsor Castle for Year 1, House matches for our Key stage 2 pupils and a wonderful Sports Day last week, with a lovely Caribbean Cricket afternoon for Year 6. Thank you so much for supporting the boys in their races, it was a truly wonderful event and I must thank all of the sports staff for their organisation of the day. It was only our chess players in the end who suffered slightly in the heat when they took part in the end of term Tournament...for 7 rounds and 4 hours! Well done to all the boys in Year 2-6 who took part. You can see the results in the news below, but for me I would like to congratulate Samuel Tschiesche who was playing superbly all afternoon.
