Mr Leuzinger's Words Lent 7
Wow! What a week we have had! Firstly Mr Spanswick has been unwell since half term and Mrs Nott unfortunately broke her ankle on Wednesday evening, so you’re left with me. We wish them both speedy recoveries.
As a result, I held our Celebration Assembly this morning. We had our usual array of Merit Certificates, Masters of Multiplication achievements and football team of the week. Our two Rabbit Award winners are both boys who have shown real empathy, understanding and concern towards others this week.
We have been jam-packed with events too, as well as the usual fare of lessons, we have had Year 2 looking at reversible and irreversible changes in Science this week. They squashed bananas on Tuesday and tried to put them back together again. Mr Rowan’s photography club were doing some wizard photo effects. Year 1 celebrated Chinese New Year with writing, games, art and sampled some beautiful food...a little of which reached the staffroom. It didn’t last long there! Today Year 6 boys and girls have welcomed Falconry UK to the Sports Hall where they learnt about a number of birds of prey and investigated the contents of owl pellets. The birds were stunning but the pellets a bit smelly. Here are some pictures to give a flavour of the events as well as a picture from just before Half Term of the Y5 French Breakfast.
Next week continues in its busy vein with fixtures, visitors from Ancient Greece, U10 Football Tournament, Rugby 7s and Cross Country. In addition next Tuesday sees the launch of our annual charity collections with the Y6 Charity Breaktime Fayre on Tuesday. We will be supporting the Link Foundation and Rosie’s Rainbow Trust as last year, two charities very close to our hearts at Junior Boys.
In closing may I wish you all a great weekend, let’s try to keep warm and see what the “Beast from the East” weather system brings us. It looks like it’s going to be a chilly one!
