Mr Richards' Words Lent 8

I wish there had been more than one rugby question at the PTA Quiz and that my knowledge of Roman numerals had been explored. The L is certainly nearly double the Lack of points my team scored but also a Lazy seamless Link into my topics of the week. Losing and how to do it gracefully was hard work but the wooden spoon was well deserved.

Pleasingly Year 6 demonstrated how to accept the twin imposters of sporting success and defeat at the ISA tournament. Both teams reached the semi-finals where emotions were frayed by the Lottery of penalty shoot outs. One succeeded whilst the other did not. Ecstasy soon turned to despair as the final was Lost in a similar manner. What was really heartening was the Learning that they demonstrated. Support, encouragement and positivity helped them reach the heights and enjoy the outcome. Certainly the coaches were delighted that the Lows of the previous week had been Learnt. Vince Lombardi would have been delighted with their Leadership and the boys’ efforts. His quote below certainly resonates strongly:

"The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand." Vince Lombardi

On the other hand I am not sure that the quiz team applied ourselves to every round. Perhaps I ought to just Let it go!

Our chess players certainly did not Leave any chances to their chequerboard opponents. Focus can be hard to maintain but we celebrated two first places and a third. Both chess and soccer players can Look forward to further challenges. Well done for the results but more importantly for the manner of your sportsmanship.

Luck played a part in a number of Year 4’s charitable games and no cakes were Left. Another superb total of over £200s worth of Loot was raised.

Recently our Librarian Mrs Davies Left CCJB and we are very grateful for her wonderful Legacy. Change does happen and it is with a heavy heart that I accepted letters from both Mr Denton and Mrs Hine. They have decided to explore further exciting opportunities and adventures at the end of the year. Both have had a significant and positive impact in school Life.

Lastly to help my score next year in the PTA Quiz I need to retain a Larger number of random facts or insist my team-mates have slightly Less Liquid or there again perhaps we should have had a few more. For the record the total of Ls in my words matches our Ludicrously Low score.

See the gallery of the week.
