Mr Richards' Words Lent 10
Unprecedented, unusual and unsettling times for young and old. What has been remarkable though and something to cherish and be proud of has been the positive outlook as well as the desire of us all. The work ethic of those in school and the palpable disappointment of those having to self-isolate and being unable to assist has been absolutely stunning. My colleagues this week have prepared lessons, supported those unable to attend school and planned for unknown eventualities with a steely ‘all in it together’ effort. Thank you all so much. We have really appreciated the countless messages of support from you as the parents. Hopefully as we break up into our smaller pods, as directed from on high, we can remember the strength of the Claires Court family and rely upon each other. I know many of you have already thought about those in our communities not as fortunate.
At school this week we have ploughed on with plenty of thinking and learning as well as new experiences. Year 6 were hugely frustrated not to go to PGL. However the opportunity to wear non uniform all week and the offer of being able to dive headlong into a hastily arranged programme of activities softened the blow. Well done everyone. My personal favourites were the tank battle and the raft making competitions. Problem solving, creativity and teamwork in abundance.
In our last whole school assembly on Monday I apologised to both Year 3 and Year 1 for not being present at their fantastic Charity Break and Parent Assembly respectively last Friday. As I explained I was unable to cut myself in half and was with the Year 4 boys on their football, friendship and fun tour. It certainly accomplished all of those. We were very grateful to both the Gregg School and Ballards who honoured our fixtures and welcomed us all into their communities. Ten pin bowling, crazy golf and battlefield live were all very exciting. I discovered I am quite an easy target to hit! The boys delightfully maintained the highest standards and continued to demonstrate the best of manners, commitment, helpfulness and politeness.
Stay safe, keep in touch and I hope to be able to see you all back running about in high spirits as soon as possible.
