Mr Richard Words Autumn 1

Calmness, laughter, apprehension, inquisitiveness, relationships, excitement, smiles, communication, opportunity, understanding, routine and thriving are all words that I have witnessed this week at Junior Boys. I would like to thank the boys for their wonderful approach to the return to school and praise my colleagues for the positive atmosphere they continuously model. A quick mention also to colleagues in supporting capacities who do so much unseen work to make our environment efficient, clean, kind and helpful.

A special mention to our 18 newest chaps in Reception who have bravely entered school, enjoyed the climbing frame (sssh don’t tell anyone else!) and amazed us all with their spirit. Welcome also to the 19 other joiners across all  age groups. I hope you settle in quickly, have a wonderful educational journey with us and help contribute to our happy school. A special mention to Year 4 whom I churned over the summer holidays - they have returned in seamless fashion and delighted everyone involved with their maturity and determined approach.

Despite a few technical issues on Monday we remained resilient and managed to overcome them allowing the form teachers to deliver their first ever virtual, ‘meet the form teacher information meeting’, the boys certainly appreciated an extended first day break. These presentations and/or recordings should have been emailed to you as well. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or information that will help assist your sons settle in both pastorally and academically. I am sure the boys and you will get accustomed to the change in uniform and games kits requirements on different days. Just a gentle reminder that we do require the boys to be presented in a neat and tidy fashion. This includes their hair which must be worn above the collar and kept out of their line of vision.

I was also rather pleased that our ‘civil engineering department’ managed to create a successful drop off and collection plan, whilst parents could ‘read’ my not to scale diagram! Well done everyone - it has been a pleasure to see you all and reconnect. Please do be patient if the weather turns or the bus arrives at an untimely hour. We will be as flexible as possible to help accommodate everyone. Do help us though by booking into our extended day care both before and after school as needed.

It is simply great to be back.
