Mrs Kirby's Words Summer Week 6

Monday saw us all return full of excitement after an amazing week of events and pageantry. Our Activity Week immediately before the break and the celebrations of the Queen resonated strongly with me.
Respect, responsibility, integrity and loyalty were words that were used by plenty of commentators and have a certain prominence here as well! The pupils were full of stories and adventure about their week and a special mention to Ben in Year 6 who performed with his choir in St George's Chapel. He told us “The concert included a well known conductor and a full professional orchestra and choir. The music sounded incredible and I felt privileged to perform with them.” Certainly a wonderful opportunity and a memory for life.
Transition is the theme of the week here with smooth changeovers at the relays at the Regional Athletics. But also in other ways as all years begin to think about the excitement of what the next school year has in store. This is especially true for Year 6 who start their last half term as Juniors at Claires Court.
Year 6 have, as all years, much to look forward to for the remainder of the term and they certainly responded enthusiastically to the clothes upcycling workshop on Tuesday. Thank you to Mrs Carter - JG parent for running this workshop with the boys and inspiring them to think about sustainability.
On Wednesday a good number of athletes attended the Claires Court organised ISA Regional Athletics Festival at the splendid Thames Valley Athletic Arena in Eton. What a tremendous day of competition and endeavour. There were plenty of great running performances, triumphant field events and our relays shone brightly. Well done to all the athletes and especially to the 11 who qualified to compete in the Nationals at Manchester on Monday.
Please do look out for our Parent Evening and House Swimming Gala emails sent this week and put the following date into your diary - PTA Summer Fête on Saturday 25 June.
Finally, to all those who are going to the PTA Ball on Saturday have a fabulous time. I’ll see you there!
