Mrs Heywood's Words Autumn 4
It has been an exhilarating and enriching first four weeks of term. As I write this I can see the Year 8s arriving back from their residential trip to Osmington Bay hastily exiting the coaches, exhausted and excitedly informing their parents of memorable experiences. This happy sight makes the huge effort of all involved worthwhile and I thank them for their hard and exhausting work.
I am also delighted to report that between all the other trips, fixtures and other successful activities that have taken place since the beginning of term, the girls have also had the opportunity to attend some inspirational, thought provoking and informative assemblies. Our Head of Maths Mrs O’Clee, based her assembly on ‘Timetable Rock Stars’ and Hannah Senior in Year 8 talked and sang about ‘How to get involved in the Summer Wycombe Swan Projects’. Past pupil Ellie Rayer, took time out from her busy training schedule to talk about her journey from school hockey to winning her first EuroHockey Championships Medal. Amazingly she provided the assist for the winning goal against Germany in the bronze medal play-off match.
On Monday the Language Leaders, Serena Bhatti, Louise Ditchfield, Amy Ingram and Izzy Molhoek talked about the skills they have acquired by being language leaders over the last two years. They have promoted languages and cultural diversity by organizing activities on the European Day of Languages, including quizzes and food tasting sessions for pupils to take part in.
