Mrs Heywood's Words Autumn 11
Congratulations to our Year 11 drama pupils who performed their devised pieces, experimenting with Brechts and Artauds theories and using physical theatre as expressionism. Some very accomplished performances showing the darker and more mysterious way of presenting theatrical devised pieces.
On Tuesday night large numbers of Year 11 pupils attended our Sixth Form Open Evening. It was a pleasure chatting with Year 11 parents and pupils and a joy to see the confidence with which more than 80 of our present Sixth Form met, guided and articulated the intricacies of their own subject areas; along with life in Claires Court Sixth Form to our visitors.
We had a good turn out for the Resilience Talk for Year 9 and 10 parents and thank you for working with us on these important issues. Remember if you need any further help, support, or guidance please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We're delighted to report we have our first Year 7 Accelerated Reader 'Word Millionaire' - the first pupil to read over a million words so far this school year! Ophelia in Year 7 achieved this huge milestone this week. We hope to have a few more Millionaires next term...
The annual House Swimathon is being held on Saturday 6 January 2018 to raise money for the Lions Club and pupils will be given a sponsorship form. The event will be held at the Magnet Leisure Centre, Maidenhead between 3pm and 5pm.
Finally thank you for all those who have already contributed to our Christmas Hamper Collection. It is heartwarming to see the generosity of parents as the boxes are filling up with your donations. The decorated boxes are appearing in the Reception area and the Christmas trees are on their way, so please keep the gifts rolling in.
Please note early buses run from Monday 11 December and save the date for the Carol Services on Friday 15 December at St Luke's Church.
