Mrs Heywood's Words Summer 2
We have received some excellent feedback from our LAMDA examiner, as she observed three days of performances from Year 10s as well as a host of Juniors.
Well done to girls and it is no mean feat to appear on your own on a stage knowing you are being assessed and judged. We look forward to the results in a month and we are hoping parents of our performers will come along to the LAMDA launch on Thursday afternoon to see the girls in action.
Year 10 historians were joined by the Senior Boys for a very successful two day trip to Ypres last weekend, and they really enjoyed working together, and benefited from the experience of visiting war cemeteries, museums and visitor centres. We were proud that four of our Claires Court students laid a memorial wreath at the Menin Gate Ceremony on the Friday.
Year 7 and 8 took part in the UK Junior Maths Challenge this week, the annual opportunity to pit their skills with others all across the country. Open Morning on Thursday was extremely busy and Year 7 were brilliant guides - so confident and articulate.
Our PTA are extremely busy with their band of volunteers who are currently on a mission to plan, create and stage the Summer Ball. All the work they are doing reflects so accurately their sheer determination to both raise funds to enhance the learning experiences of the girls still further. Having recently attended one of these occasions I know that it is going to be a wonderful social event.
It is lovely seeing the girls taking the opportunity of enjoying their lunch on the field in the sunshine amongst our talented athletes taking every opportunity to train and enhance their performance.
One last plea from our finance department regarding ‘Charity week’, please can all sponsorship money be brought in by the end of next week.
Additionally, could all girls please wear winter uniform for the school photo next week.
So it has been an energising return to school and thank you for your contribution to that... and have a lovely weekend.
