Mrs Heywood's Words Autumn 10
Over £150 pounds was raised for Children In Need over the course of the week and thank you to all pupils and staff who contributed to this worthy cause.
What an end to an extremely busy week, two entertaining charity matches took place on both Thursday and Friday lunchtimes last week. Spectators enjoyed watching the highly charged matches and what a great way for staff and pupils to get active, enjoy themselves and raise funds for Children in Need. Mrs Warren kindly umpired the staff match and observed that not all rules of the game were adhered to so made some up herself!
Our swimming stars took to the water and competed in the ISA London West Regional Championships battling for places in the national finals as well as trying to win their regional team competitions. Congratulations to all girls who took part at the gala and special mention to Caitlin (G7), Jemimah (G9) and Kally (Y13) who won their events and go onto the ISA National Swimming Championships at the London Aquatic Centre on 1 December.
We will be holding our usual collection of non-perishable items in order that we can make up Christmas Hampers which the Maidenhead branch of the Salvation Army will distribute to local elderly and needy families. We are hoping each Year will bring in the following items, Years 7 & 8 - Luxury Items - Toiletries, Year 9 & 10 - Tinned Food/Preserves and Year 11 - Novelty Items such as Christmas Crackers/Table Games/Tree Decorations.
We wish Year 11 good luck in their mocks and thank parents in advance for supporting their daughters over the next couple of weeks.
On Tuesday night large numbers of Year 11 pupils attended our Sixth Form Opening Evening. It was a pleasure chatting with Year 11 parents and pupils and a joy to see the confidence with which more than 120 of our present Sixth Form met, guided and articulated the intricacies of their own subject areas; along with life in Claires Court Sixth Form to our visitors.
Have a lovely weekend.
