Mrs Heywood's Words Summer 2
Year 10 historians were joined by the senior boys for a very successful two day trip to Ypres last weekend, and they really enjoyed working together, and benefited from the experience of visiting war cemeteries, museums and visitor centres.
We have received some positives feedback from our LAMDA examiner, as he observed three days of performances from ... Year 10s as well as a host of Juniors. Well done to the pupils as it is no mean feat to appear on your own on a stage knowing you are being assessed and judged. We look forward to the results in a month and whatever the results for some performers it was a massive task as it requires a huge amount of confidence and to cope with these challenges; resilience and tenacity are essential. We look forward to seeing some of them perform later on in the Summer at the Music and Drama Party in the Park.
Year 7 and 8 took part in the UK Junior Maths Challenge this week, the annual opportunity to pit their skills with others all across the country. Open Morning on Friday was extremely busy and Year 9 and 10 were brilliant guides this time round - so confident and articulate.
Our PTA are extremely busy with their band of volunteers and we are delighted that the Junior Girls Movie Night was such a success and thank all those parents and staff involved.
It is lovely seeing the girls taking the opportunity of enjoying their lunch on the field in the sunshine amongst our talented athletes taking every opportunity to train and enhance their performance and Y9 and 10 squads had their first run out of the season at Thames Valley Athletic Track and I look forward to hearing how they did!
As we are fast approaching the GCSE exam season we look forward to celebrating with Year 11 next Friday and we welcome their parents into their last Senior Girls Assembly.
So it has been an energising return to school and thank you for your contribution to that... and have a lovely long weekend.
