from Nursery to Sixth Form

Mrs Heywood's Words Autumn 2

A new school year can be overwhelming and now the challenges of the first week come to an end, we can all breathe a sigh of relief.

My thanks to our new Heads of School, Hannah Hale (Head Prefect), Katie Rathbone and Olivia Connor (Deputy Head Prefects) for leading the way and ensuring the new generation of pupils and staff feel welcomed at Claires Court. All our Senior Prefects play a vital part as ambassadors in the running of the school, assisting and supporting. Head of Year, Mrs Sahota and Head of Pastoral, Mrs Ruddick are looking forward to working with them and seeing what a positive impact they have on the rest of the school during their year of office.

Today, Friday 13 September, in conjunction with the National Trust at Cliveden, Year 7 have had the opportunity to work together and listens to soldiers tales in the WWI war cemetery, creative art in the Long Garden, ‘visiteering’ with the Trust’s gardeners and team building together up and around the water garden and maze. A fabulous day meeting up, learning more about each other, making friends and winning points for their Houses.

I am delighted to inform you that five of our G11 pupils Anna, Anishah, Felicity, Hannah Hickson and Nuala have been awarded First Prize in the Maths Miniature Competition. Teams of students were invited to produce a short film about Mathematics in Sport. Students from 91 schools submitted videos into the competition. The standard was extremely high and the judges were impressed with the way the girls explained and applied clearly the fundamental principle of applied mathematics (moments of forces) to sport.

The full after school activity programme begins on Monday and if pupils or parents have any queries or concerns please speak to Deputy Head Operations, Mr Richards: smr@clairescourt.net

Thank you to all those parents who attended the Year 7 Parent Workshops talking about the dangers of using the internet, sleep deprivation and keep children safe online. I hope you found it informative and by working together we can ensure the safety and well being of our pupils.

Have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing those of you who will be attending Speech Day and Prize Giving next week.
