Mrs Heywood's Words Autumn 9

A very exciting, extremely noisy two hours of competition and fun this week in the pool for the Years 7 and 8 Inter House Swimming Gala.
It was an absolute pleasure this week to be invited again to present medals at the Inter House Swimming Competition and to watch the Year 9 pupils in action officiating and encouraging their fellow House members in their races all afternoon. Each house was well represented with lots of swimmers and the atmosphere was tense and full of excitement. It was a very close competition and the final outcome rested on the last two races where St Vincent piped St Therese by one point to lift the Inter House Swimming Trophy. Individual and Effort Awards will be presented in assembly on Monday.
Congratulations to our U13 Netball Squad who have recently qualified to represent the London West Region at the ISA National Netball Competition in March at Rugby School.
I am delighted to report that at the prestige ISA Autumn Study conference in Leeds, Mr Joel Wareing received on behalf of Claires Court the ISA Award for 'Outstanding Community Involvement'. We also had further successes as two of our artists won the top award at the conference, Jake Ward the KS4 2D Art individual category and Zainab Saleem the KS5 Photography category.
Please support our PTA and book a table at our our Diamond Jubilee Ball. As this is our 60th year of providing high quality education, please join us in celebrating our School's Diamond Anniversary at the Diamond Jubilee Ball on Saturday 6 June 2020, hosted in the grounds of Junior Boys. Welcome drinks, canapes, a three course dinner, a live band and a disco until 1am this is an event not to be missed! We recommend you reserve a table as early as possible before tickets sell out. Please see the details of how to reserve your tickets.
We have another Accelerated Reader Star winner in Year 8! Amber in 8A reached her Silver Star target this week. She narrowly missed this target last term and we are delighted that she has achieved it this term.
I enjoyed meeting Year 10 parents at the Parents Evening on Thursday. Parents’ Evening form a vital part of the School and home partnership, allowing your child’s subject teachers to discuss the progress they are making with you and your child. We were also delighted to welcome so many of our own pupils at an extremely successful and well attended Sixth Form Open Evening on Tuesday.
Next week we look forward to the Senior Girls Performance Platform on Wednesday in the Chapel.
Have a lovely weekend!
