Mrs Heywood's Words Autumn 12

Year 7 pupils decorated the schools sponsored Christmas tree at St Luke's Church in Maidenhead for the 'Christmas Tree Festival'. After the festival the tree will be donated to local families in need.
Rhiannon Thomas, Year 7, stole the show winning at the ISA National Swimming Gala at the London Aquatics Centre winning all four of her races, namely the 50m front crawl, 50m breaststroke, the medley relay and freestyle relay. A fantastic achievement by one of the strongest swimmers at the national event.
Year 11 are nearing the end of their Mock Examinations; reports are being written and checked; and pupils will get a chance to read and reflect on them on our last day for girls in Years 7 -10 or on 24 January for Year 11.
The Sixth Form Team and subject teachers are very much looking forward to welcoming Year 11 pupils to the Sixth Form next Wednesday 11 December for the Sixth Form Taster Morning. This is an invaluable opportunity for the pupils to find out what the life of a Sixth Form student is like and to trial new and traditional A Level and BTEC Level 3 subjects. We hope they will find it an informative and interesting fact finding mission!
Following on from last year’s success in the Springboard Future Chef Competition, our emerging chefs from Year 10 will be battling it out for a place in this year's competition.
Don’t forget to wear your Christmas Jumper on Friday 13 December and bring in a pound for ‘Save the Children’ which is an extremely worthwhile charity that supports children all around the world. Our Year 10 Elves will be busy welcoming Santa and helping serve Christmas lunch to our Junior pupils.
Finally thank you for all those who have already contributed to our Christmas Hamper Collection. Year 7 have kindly decorated the Christmas Tree outside the dining room and please keep the gifts rolling in: Years 7 and 8 - Luxury Items - Toiletries, Years 9 and 10 - Tinned Food/Preserves and Year 11 - Novelty Items such as Christmas Crackers/Table Games/Tree Decorations.
I hope to see many of you at the Carol Services - Years 7 to 9 starting at 9.30am, and Year 10, 11 and Sixth Form at 10.50am, both of these at St Luke’s church. In the afternoon, our Senior Girls will be enthusiastically taking part in the Inter-House Challenge which is a fantastic opportunity for house members to work together.
Thank you for all of your help and support throughout the term, and we really value the partnership.
Wishing you all a restful weekend.
