Claires Court Maidenhead

from Nursery to Sixth Form

Mrs Heywood's Words Lent 2

There was a lovely atmosphere at the Lions Swimarathon event on Saturday where the girls had a roaring time!

Thank you to all pupils, parents and staff who supported our teams at the Maidenhead Lions Swimarathon competition last Saturday at the Magnet Leisure Centre. We had an excellent turnout by our enthusiastic Year 7’s and a special mention must go to Year 10 pupils Millie and Jess, Mrs Burdett and Ms Clifford for supporting our younger pupils throughout the session. We were delighted that between them they completed 332 lengths and all the sponsor money raised is in aid of the local community.

Our Monday assembly was busy with pupils from all age groups talking about their experiences on the Modern Foreign Language trips last October. For pupils and staff participating in a school trip abroad not only allows them to have a fabulous and unique time but also encourages relationship building, as well as the development of communication skills and cultural understanding. It is also a powerful, positive teaching tool that helps enhance social, personal and emotional development of all pupils. It seems the trip was a huge success and judging by the quality of the presentation it has broaden pupil’s horizons and developed an active interest in their subject.

Whilst our Year 11 pupils may have earned a small break, there's still much to do and it is essential they make the most of all the clinics available to them at lunchtimes and after school to ensure they get the best results in the summer. They will also be receiving feedback and advice from subject teaches via their academic reports next Friday 24 January.

We were delighted to hear this week that all that hard work, training and commitment paid off for Bella, Year 7, and her Ice Skating Squad. They are now the bronze medallists for the British Synchronised Skating Championships 2020, Intermediate Level. Congratulations Bella!

First full week back at school after the break and we are really in the swing of things!

Have a lovely weekend.
