from Nursery to Sixth Form

Mrs Heywood's Words Lent 6

Yesterday the U15 hockey squad won the ISA National Hockey Finals at Lee Valley Stadium. Many congratulations to all the girls that played.

“All’s well that ends well”. Well done to all the pupils from Years 7 to 9 for all their hard work over the last couple of months preparing for this year's Drama Fest, a plethora of original plays based on Shakespeare's works which provided the perfect opportunity to showcase our up and coming talent. Thank you to our compère, Hannah S from Year 11, our photographer and backstage assistant Kristen from Year 10, all the staff behind the scenes and particularly to Mrs Warren for ensuring our pupils experience the power of drama. Congratulations to the winning performers from Year 7, Annabelle, Grace, Emily P, Sophie, Emily T and Bella for their interpretation of ‘Much Ado About Nothing’.

Our top scientists in Year 8 participated in the Faraday Challenge at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Didcot. Amber and Samara, along with four Senior Boys, worked well as a team throughout the day on a 'stretch and challenge' project to come up with an engineering solution which really got them thinking 'outside the box'.

Year 10s are now applying for Head and Deputy Head Girl positions for next year, along with a host of other Senior prefect posts. The early parts of the process require the hopeful candidates to write a letter of application setting out why they think they should be appointed and what they would bring to the role. That is followed by a group debate activity and then a shortlist emerges for the final interviews.

Congratulations to the following girls who performed at the ISA cross country competition: Caitlin F, Mia, Caitlin W, Eva, Izzie, Emily, Darcie and Nuala. We are delighted that Izzie, Emily and Nuala have qualified  for the National Finals. The girls did us proud and were great ambassadors for the school.

After half term subject teachers are looking forward to meeting with our Year 11 pupils and parents on Tuesday 25 February to discuss how we can work together to ensure the pupils get the best possible outcomes in the summer. Managing workload, revision strategies and making use of the GCSE clinics available throughout the week.

And my final plea - please don’t forget the uniform sale on Tuesday 25 February 3pm to 5pm and it is the PTA Diamond Jubilee Summer Ball on the 6 June. I hope you are intending to attend, and that you have also ordered your tickets for our Senior Girls theatre and dining experience!

Thank you for all of your help and support throughout this half term and we wish you a wonderful break with your family.
