Mr Richards' Words Week 5
When I was living abroad, a very good friend of mine had a saying that has always stuck with me - when it gets dark, look for the light. Ms Ruddick sent this picture of the field around on Tuesday and I think it sums up where we are at the moment. There is certainly a bit of a patchy outlook but there is plenty to celebrate, plenty to be proud of and plenty of light.
Our current Year 11s have always been fantastic. I remember clearly teaching them in Year 8 as the first students I taught at Claires Court and I am so proud of how they have approached their mock exams this week. The exams team has been to see me most days to compliment them on their excellent attitude and their great work rate in the exams. It was lovely to catch a group of them at the end of the day yesterday and reminisce over their past ups and downs through Seniors; they really do have a great outlook on life and that is of course because of the influences on them at home and at school. Onepupil said ‘I wish it was all filmed, the good times and the bad, because I don’t want to forget it all’.
We were also able to bring our Year 9 bubbles together for a team building day on Tuesday. The feedback from the pupils was very positive and it was great to take that break from the rigours of the classroom and focus on coming together. I popped down to see them hard at work and Ms Barrett destroyed me at laser clay shooting - 12 points to two! I promised her I would let you know...
