Mr Richards' words summer week 11

A week of celebration this week. After a late night on Wednesday, the students came into school excited and buoyed by the many successes of our national football team. Those of us that remember the painful experiences of the past cannot quite believe it all and I am delighted that this generation only really knows successful English sports teams. As we continue to develop our leadership programmes here at Senior Girls, there are many lessons we can learn from Southgate, who is as close as you can get to Level 5 leadership. He has taken something good and is on the verge of making it great.
We were so proud of all of our students who took part in the Festival of Performing Arts that Mr Gravett will not allow me to call ‘Rock the Convent’. We have a celebration of sporting success on sports day and we can now do the same in performing arts during Rock the Convent. An enormous thank you to Mr Gravett and Mr Bennett for making this happen, we are very lucky to have such enthusiastic and inspiring teachers in the performing arts subjects. It was lovely to see so many of you attend the event too. As we bring more fixtures back to the school calendar, we would like to make your attendance at these a more regular thing. We love celebrating the talents and endeavours of our young people and it is so nice we will be able to do this together.
I would like to thank all of the staff for their work this year. They have adapted to every and all situations that have been thrown at them and I am so proud how they have always put the needs of the students first. It has been a very different academic year but I genuinely believe we have come through it stronger. We will have work to do and we are looking forward to another successful, and hopefully less disrupted, year in 2021-22.
Finally, I would like to thank our students and their families. As I show prospective families around the school, they always comment on how engaged and happy the students are in their lessons. We know we have a great school because we have great students and we only have great students because they have been brought up so well.
I hope you have a relaxing weekend.
