Mr Richards' words Autumn week 5

The topic of girls' friendships has been the main point of focus for us this week.
We invited Andrew Hampton, the founder of Girls on Board, over to Claires Court for a two day seminar to explore how we can further develop our programme. There we delegates from 14 other schools and our Year 11s showed them all just how far they have come with their mature and insightful comments on friendships and their importance when growing up. Andrew then ran an evening session for us last night. I have included a link to my presentation I run with each year group here - please take the time to familiarise yourself with the programme and further details can be found on the website, here. We have also been at the forefront of taking what works so well with Girls on Board and writing a similar programme for boys - 'Working with Boys'.
We will continue to forge forward with our work on friendships, as we all know that happy children work harder and do better. It is not a quick fix and will take time to help and train some of our students in the language and culture of empathy and understanding but every year our Year 11s leave far better equipped to make and maintain friendships.
Finally, I am looking forward to seeing you all at the Fireworks event tomorrow. Be sure to check out the stalls run by the students and, in particular, please check out the Human Fruit Machine that the CCF cadets will be running.
Have a great weekend.
