Mr Wilding’s Words Summer 8

Now all the public examinations are over, we welcomed back both Year 11 and Year 13 yesterday; 75 Year 11 Boys and Girls celebrated at Thorpe Park for the day and 130 Sixth Formers enjoyed the 2019 Ball at the Crowne Plaza in the evening. After their dedicated efforts to conclude their studies, it is a pleasure to see them celebrate with such joy afterwards.
Additional highlights this week include having enough good weather to conclude cricket matches; well done to both the Under 12 and 13 cricket teams who have made their respective County Finals. With a strong backbone of Claires Court athletes at the heart of the ISA London West Athletics team, the LW squad won all 4 age categories at the National finals and retained the Regional trophy for the sixth year running. Parents are cordially invited to join us for our own Athletics Sports day next Wednesday 3 July afternoon at the Little Marlow Athletics track (SL7 3RS). Events start at 1pm.
From next Monday our annual jacket ‘amnesty’ commences, permitting parents to have their son’s blazer dry cleaned, in good time to go on sale at the PTA Nearly New Uniform Sale on Friday 5 July.
And finally, one of our invigilators, Christine Kyte runs the ‘Knit and Natter’ group in Maidenhead Library on Wednesdays 2-4pm. Thanks to their great efforts we were able to present 23 hand-knitted blankets to the Clara Court care home here in Maidenhead this week. Mrs Tarr and I were so impressed with their work, we laid it out in our entrance to show it off in all its glory!
