Mr Wilding's Words Lent 1

Welcome back to all at Senior Boys! 2020 sets a whole host of exciting challenges for us all in the Claires Court community; from the important iGCSE Maths for Year 11 now underway through to the move of Year 7 into two languages for the remainder of the academic year.
The traffic roadway meisters of Maidenhead seems to conspire every week to throw up new sets of traffic lights to stall traffic, or indeed even close roads (Shoppenhangers), and it seems to be very similar in Beaconsfield and beyond as well; fingers crossed they will give us an easier time over the next few months.
Staff at Senior Boys send their best wishes and grateful thanks to all of our parents who have sent in their wishes for the Christmas season just passed, and for ensuring that your son has been returned to school, fit for work and ready for the fray (hem, hem).
We welcome Mrs Catherine Newton, one of our experienced LSAs from Junior Boys to join our team here at Senior Boys. We also welcome Mr Mike Morrisey as our Marketing Manager, taking over from Miss Olivia James, now in a similar role at Birkbeck College, University of London.
My final ‘knot’ of staff news highlights the brilliant success enjoyed by Mr Sammy Isaacs-Johnson, Sailing and Digital Arts, at the third RS Aero World Championship at Black Rock YC on the waters of Port Phillip in Melbourne Australia. Following his outstanding 4th place in the European champs last year, Sammy followed this up by sailing for the GB team and being placed 10th in the world!
As we advertised before Christmas, our plans for our Diamond Jubilee Ball on Saturday 6 June are well advanced and ticket sales continue to go well. With 25 tables already reserved, we can accommodate up to 40 tables, so please see the website for more information and booking details. Thank you for your support of this event, which was sorely missed last year and is regarded always as being ‘memorable’ for all the right reasons. Old Boys of Claires Court have also been pressing for confirmation of our Alumni Diamond Jubilee event at Senior Boys, permitting them to return to see their old school and former teachers, and I am delighted to confirm that date as being Saturday 26 September 2020.
