Mr Wilding's words summer week 5

As we reach the end of another working week in what feels like an eternal Winter, most are hugely comforted by the friendship and camaraderie that abounds. Even on the worst of wet breaks, 4 square, basketball and cricket matches erupt across the bubble zones, and it’s clear that we have every hope that the warm weather will soon come, to further lighten the mood.

We’ve welcomed new boys on site this week for the first time this year, ‘tasting’ the CC experience with a view to starting after half-term. They’ve been made to feel so welcome, and I can congratulate Year 7, 8 and 9 for reaching out and making a difference!

Next week sees Year 11 complete their assessments in the 2021 world for TAG creation, and we have written directly to parents to provide the YouTube link to their celebration assembly on Friday. As that day is a games day, we have reserved Tuesday morning first thing for our academic photocall, providing more than a few memory moments for them as well as for the younger years, they being the Pandemic Year GCSE cohort for ever more!

I look forward to running the Year 10 virtual briefing for Parents the same evening, to outline Year 10s passage into Year 11, explain how the boys can make application for leadership roles next term, from Headboy downwards as well as their first highlighting of the assessment process for GCSE subjects expected for 2022. We will be providing an in-house, parent-teacher afternoon late in the second half of term, once we have full release from Covid-19 restrictions.

And finally, we welcome Molly Jost, sister to Walt, into the world on Wednesday morning, and by we, I include former Claires Court student (1977-86) and now Consultant Obstetrician at the Royal Berkshire, Pat Bose (School nurse Mrs Bose’s husband). Mum, Dad and baby Molly are clearly doing very well!
