Mr Wilding's words Autumn week 4

It's been really good to re-establish so much this week at Senior Boys, not least our first full week of GCSE examination practice for Year 11, our second raft of Rugby Fixtures (great results, please check out www.clairescourtsports.com) and what seems to be a gentle easing on the medical front. Just as nice to report is that our transport companies have been able to manage their diesel supplies, so despite ongoing concerns of the 'arrival of Armageddon', we have been able to run school normally.
We've mounting excitement about the Fireworks event next Saturday 9 October, with our older boys planning stalls to support the PTA with their fundraising efforts for 2021-22. The additional funds they make that they put to the school's many projects are incredibly useful, providing almost £60,000 for the school as a whole, supporting such diverse projects including all of our medals and prize awards, 3D printing in Science here at Senior Boys and the wonderful cricket artificial wicket at Taplow, without which the rains of May would have otherwise destroyed our early summer season with bat and ball. Please do take the opportunity to bring your family along, the Fireworks themselves are the first 'launch' we have of a wildlife and pet-friendly display. We are also launching our plans for the planting of 3,000 trees to celebrate the school's 60th Jubilee and the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, and it will be the first opportunity we have to be a physical community since the summer of 2019!
And finally, the efforts and achievements of our former pupils, Alumni, continue to inspire our work. Oli Moore (2011-18) graduating from Plymouth this summer with a 2:1 in Marine Biology, shared with us his wildlife showreel, which in turn helped him win his first job as a runner with Plimsoll productions in Bristol, for their wildlife filmwork series for Netflix. After half-term, Oli's quote for our Alumni celebration statements will be up on show:
