Mr Wilding's words Autumn week 10

At Monday Assembly this week, outdoor education's DoE and paddling lead, James Wragg spoke via camera to the school, letting us all know about his sponsored cycle around Great Britain, which starts on Saturday. We would have loved to have put a great 'Departure' display for Mr Wragg on site today, to accompany many of the classes' talk from Greenpeace, but sadly, the many and various journey requirements had the bike somewhere else today. Whatever happens to James, he will keep us in the loop via targeted Vlog to school; he has built a lovely website, https://cycleforchange.co.uk/, to cover the journey, including the most charming photo of his family team supporting his work!
I am delighted to report further supplies of Lateral Flow tests should be coming home with your son this afternoon; as I manage the daily reporting of Covid-19 cases at Claires Court to DfE, with fingers crossed I am very happy to report case numbers at Senior Boys remain low, and I thank everyone of our families for sticking to the twice weekly routing of LFTing. It makes a huge difference to ensure school can run as normally as possible.
I am also delighted to confirm Richard Beck's appointment as Head of Football at Claires Court; Richard is in his second year with us at Senior Boys, is already contributing well to our Business Studies and Games coaching and will be introducing a Football development pathway to match the Rugby pathway started last term into the Sixth Form. These enable our students to follow a full academic programme to A levels, BTEC and University entrance, whilst enabling each player to work at similar levels to those in elite coaching academies attached currently to clubs. Richard is well known in football circles, having run the Beaconsfield FC academy previously.
And finally, our first Saturday planting of our Jubilee Tree canopy enjoyed the best of weather last weekend, and we have more happening tomorrow. We thank Simon Hawkins, current parent and founder of Merewood Arboricultural Consultancy Services for all of his help. Simon is a real expert and I do commend him to you if you need planning or any other kind of support with trees.
With all the best for the weekend.
