Mr Wilding's words Lent week 5

Year 8 have been recreating Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre as part of their English studies, and we’ve seen amazing versions in cake, cardboard and Minecraft as well as full on miniature building materials! As you can see from Mrs Ging’s class team photo, the contributions have been remarkable, and as befits the type of model, particularly tasty too!
With the sun continuing to shine, virus cases dropping rapidly to single figures and the government beginning to consider ‘ending requirements to isolate’, it sounds a bit pathetic that we had to postpone our Year 9 parent-teacher meetings until 4 April, but sadly that was required as the group size in total would have been too large to host in school. Elsewhere parents will see links to the presentation and recording for the virtual presentation we held this Tuesday, to introduce next year’s GCSE programme as a starter for 10.
And finally, we were delighted that our Under 18 Rugby boys won the country cup final last week, beating St Bartholomew’s Newbury 29-27. Captain Will D has won selection for Scotland for his next steps, and Jack D being selected for England South West. Will has a well established reputation through the London Irish Academy, but Jack’s progress a year early at scrum half is pretty remarkable too!. I never wish to claim all the credit for these sporting achievements, as it’s so often the combined contribution of the boy's school, local club and regional centres of excellence that makes the difference - in this case, I salute Maidenhead and Marlow clubs too!
