Mr Wilding's Words Summer Term Week 1

Welcome back one and all to the Summer Term 2022.
It’s not often we have a ‘drought’ this early in the Summer term, but being dry when athletics, cricket, sailing, paddling and rowing are all part of the school day has made for a great first week back in school. The fine weather also made the taking of the official school photograph for 2022 really easy, the first since 2019!
Over the Easter break, all sorts of additional school activities took place, from DofE Bronze and Silver expeditions, rowing, sailing and skiing trips involving a good number of boys and girls and it’s great to see this range of activity back on the calendar. Our thoughts do go out for one of our Year 7 students who broke his hip whilst skiing, and who is facing the summer term lying down - please send him your best wishes via school if you wish!
Through the Lent term, teachers had been capturing exciting images of the boys at work, #MakingHistory and I’ve used those both to create some stills for the main staircases, as well as a short movie to remind us that every day at school, our boys ‘make History’ - you can see that slide deck here - http://schl.cc/eu - (run time 3 minutes) and the soundtrack is by our Spanish teacher Tito Peres, who sang the same track at our Commemoration service at the end of last term.
Thursday saw our first Parent Teacher evening of the term, this for Year 8, and we look forward to seeing Year 7 back in school next Wednesday evening, 6pm to 8pm. Please sign in at Reception with your son, and he will take you on tour around the school to meet with his teachers and catch up on his achievements and progress this year to date.
Finally, the best way to celebrate this sense of community and enjoy the company of other great people in the Claires Court family is at our Summer Ball on Saturday 11 June. Our wonderful PTA put an enormous amount of effort into this event, it raises a lot of money for the extra things at school and is the perfect way to be involved in school life. All details are shown on our Facebook Page www.facebook.com/clairescourt but email Anna Taylor West on annat_w@hotmail.com to secure your ticket.
