Mr Wilding's Words Summer Week 7

The arrival of Summer Dress in school reminds us that the weather has decided to behave and support the school (and country’s) outdoor season. Parents know just how hard the CC Sports departments work, with athletics, rowing and sailing all currently participating in regional and national championships.

Following the ISA London West athletics event we manage on behalf of the 100 ISA schools in our area, Miss Cox, Mr Butterfield and Miss Hudson took the ISA London West team up to the Manchester Athletics Arena behind the Etihad stadium, and our 25 boys and girls once again made history. Amongst them they won four gold, four silver and seven bronze medals, a tremendous achievement! There were fantastic individual performances from Arabella, Zara, Lara, Bethany, Mia, Caitlin, Connor, Max, Toby, Jack and Oscar who came within the top three of their event. Fantastic performances from all the pupils involved in the Nationals, because wherever they finish is at least one more point than we would have gained otherwise. All the athletes have worked tirelessly to succeed in their specific events, leading to the biggest. WELL DONE” they could achieve, because *London West came 1st Overall* and we now have the trophy back in school!

A huge thank you to those parents and friends that attended the school’s PTA Diamond Ball on Saturday evening. Albeit late, celebrating the school’s 60th birthday was a wonderful way of closing off those six decades of the school’s progress, and of course in addition, raised considerable sums to support the ongoing work of the Parent Teacher Association and its Foundation charity.

Monday’s photo shoot went really well, and thanks to all the participants (and parents) for being so fresh and shiny for the day. OUR FINAL PHOTOSHOOT for Senior Boys takes place on Monday 4 July.  Whatever the weather this day, we will need jackets, ties etc. all on parade for the final snapshots of the year. Our current ‘stills’ largely include boys and girls who have either now left the school or are in Years 12 and 13 - so very much time for the image bank to reflect the school as we are in 2022.

And finally, we pass our condolences over to Mr Mark Turner, Deputy Head Sport, whose mother passed away this week after a long illness. Our heartfelt thoughts go out to him and family at this time of sorrow.

Best wishes for a sunny weekend

Mr Wilding
