Claires Court Maidenhead

from Nursery to Sixth Form

Heads of Sixth Form Lent 10

This week is charity week and the Sixth Form decided to abandon the usual Year 12 vs Year 13 doughnut eating competition for a much healthier Girls vs Boys Charity Netball match. Supported by their friends, plus Mr Hope, Miss Bhajwa and Mrs Hall, the twist in the tale was that the boys had to wear the girls’ kit and vice versa. This gave rise to some interesting moments when most of the boys struggled with pulling down their short skirts as they ran around the court – a successful ploy by the girls to help them win, perhaps? Unaware of, or unbothered by the rules, the boys had some interesting interpretations of the step rule, the offside rule and the obstruction rule – perhaps no-one told them netball is a non-contact sport?

However the rules were firmly yet fairly applied by umpires Mr Giles and Mrs Rogers although Mr Giles did seem to enjoy the power of the whistle! A great time was had by all, the final result ending 8-6 in favour of the girls, although the boys did only have 6 players. Well done and thank you to competitors Annabel, Bobbi, Camilla, Liv, Millie, Sophia, Velvet, Billy, Mason, Matt, Max, Todd and Tom, and thank you to all who supported and donated their cash to help with our charity week. We raised £70 for our chosen charity, Thames Valley Adventure playground.
