Claires Court Maidenhead

from Nursery to Sixth Form

Head of Sixth Form Autumn 8

Our A Level History students delivered a very thought provoking assembly today on the “War to end all wars” on this, the centenary of the armistice. The assembly commemorated the sacrifice of not only the British and Commonwealth soldiers, but also those who fought against them and the many civilians who perished. It helped to remind us of the true cost of war and the devastation and irrevocable change it leaves behind. Thanks also to Josh Morgan and Sam Holdford who performed a Remembrance Song in the Junior Boys assembly.

The Sixth Form have returned to school refreshed after their half term break, including the rowers and sailors who were on school trips. Tasha Maher spent her holiday collecting toys for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice and has collected a great number to hand over when they come to visit next week to speak about the volunteering and the 'Santa dash' in Windsor on Sunday 25 November.

Mrs Rogers continues to send UCAS applications and offers from universities are already coming in for those eager students. It should now be a priority for all students to ensure they complete their applications as soon as possible. Sixth Form geography students have this week been on an enlightening trip to London to hear lectures on subjects which will cover 75% of the content of their A Level exams.
