Head of Sixth Form Lent 1
'If this was to be the best year of your life, what would have to happen?' I put this question to our students today with the intention of empowering them with the knowledge that they themselves can achieve their goals by thinking big, believing in their abilities and encouraging others as well as aiming to be their best selves in every aspect of their lives.
Having a clear vision, supported with definite plans results in a tremendous feeling of confidence and personal power. As 1:1 mentoring sessions commence next week, Mr Hope and I have the perfect opportunity to encourage our students to reflect on their practice exam results, clarify their vision for this year and make definite plans on how to further improve their attitude to learning and their ultimate outcomes. You will receive full reports next weekend, outlining your son or daughter's current attainment and effort levels.
Students who completed their studies last summer returned to collect their A Level certificates this week and regaled us with stories of their degree courses, university life, gap year and employment experiences. It was a pleasure to see them again and discover how well their time in our Sixth Form prepared them for their next steps.
On behalf of the Sixth Form Team may I wish you and your family a very Happy New Year.
