As the first whistle went the boys showed an impressive range of passes, especially selected to manage the blustery conditions. Their footwork, whilst not perfect, indicated a clear knowledge of the rules (Murdo Binnie may well have coached this aspect of their game!) and their use of the space around the court and their speed and agility helped them to 5 goals in the first half. Move of the game was definitely made by the girls’ team. The ball travelled from one end of the court to the other in record time, passed between each of the players, into the circle where a shot was taken and narrowly missed, rebounding off the post. These same brilliant and breath-taking moves kept on coming and in time the girls pulled a couple of goals back and while the final score was 6-2 in favour of the boys, it was a very closely contested match, full of skill and strategic awareness by both sides.

Matt Kidd, captain of the boys’ team awarded Natasha Maher 'Player of the Match' for the girls side, describing her as the 'game changer'. Allegra Slater, captain of the girls’ team picked Donald Holliday as their 'Player of the Match'; she was impressed by his court coverage, which included a few offsides, as he ensured the ball moved swiftly from defence to attack. Really it was the Alexander Devine Children's Hospice who ran out the winners as the students’ donations went to them.
