Mr Spanswick's Words Summer 2

Dear Parents and guardians

I hope you are well and a huge thank you to all of you who have contacted me this week with feedback on your experiences of becoming a temporary support teacher while juggling so many other plates at the same time. Feedback is how we can continue to improve and develop our academic and wellbeing programme. We are sharing a short questionnaire which we ask you to complete here  - we value your opinions and this will help us in our thinking to deliver the best educational experience possible.

By next weekend, Hugh and James Wilding will be writing to you with information about our financial support strategy for all of our families. As you are aware, we have been carrying out an internal audit of finances so we can offer both short and long term support during these unprecedented times.

As I am seeing from my own home, the academic work and activities are hotting up. The skills our children are learning through independent work, creative thinking, IT literacy and good old fashioned perseverance (not always on display in my house!) will change the way they work forever, and I must thank you again for the support you are providing to ensure they are on track.

As James Wilding's academic bulletin to Year 11, 12, and 13 made clear on Tuesday, it's beginning to heat up at the top level too, with exam boards and Government agencies reaching in to provide support and additional opportunities for skill developments for work as well as study. You can find that bulletin here

I would also like to offer my deepest sympathies to the families in our school community who have lost loved ones to this terrible virus. My own family received some dreadful news at the end of last week as we lost someone very close to us to Covid-19. It does bring both perspective and reality to the fore in a heart wrenching way. If you or anyone you know is struggling to cope with a bereavement, please follow this link to Mind for support and advice.

Finally, we are involved next week in ‘The Global Classroom’ - a wonderful initiative to bring together the hearts and minds of children around the world, to help with their understanding of the Covid-19 pandemic. Please see the link here attached document for more information. Further detail will be sent next week.

I wish you all a safe and peaceful weekend

Best wishes

Justin Spanswick
