Mrs Rogers' words Lent week 4

‘Always remember you matter, you’re important and you are loved, and you bring to this world things no one else can.’ Charlie Mackesey has the knack of conveying deep, profound messages in such simple words and the students are very aware of my affinity to this and other optimistic yet realistic sentiments of his.
There is originality in each student, which I often tell them is just as well! But seriously, working with them is the aspect of my role I treasure the most and they never disappoint. This week alone has been punctuated with such a variety of conversations.
I have discussed the mobile bar that one of them has researched, designed and is now building in design technology, in fact I am tempted to commission one myself! I have looked at the evidence for evolution with another and talked about how to dye flower petals for a photo shoot with yet another. Football transfers, Boris Johnson, revision plans, pizza twists and MI5 have cropped up during conversations and one of the longest debates was triggered by this week’s inter form quiz - can you recall the opening scene of La La Land? No? Neither did most of the students! Go on, Google it …
My thoughts this week have been around the uniqueness of each student, bringing their own individual contribution to our community - we are the richer for it. So enjoy the weekend with them and reflect on the incredible privilege it is to be around them.
