Mrs Rogers' Words Summer Week 3

Friday 13 is synonymous with bad luck and while I am not superstitious, today I do feel unlucky;  Year 13 has officially started study leave and I will miss seeing them all every day!

We shared an emotional, Hawaiian themed, often amusing and always poignant series of presentations given by myself, their teachers, tutors and the Heads and Deputy Heads of School. There were photos and stories that made us laugh out loud and reflections on the past two unique years which brought a tear to the eye. I am proud of the way they have all ‘Aimed High, Believed in Themselves and Made a Difference.’

Two things we all agreed on were how quickly the two years had flown by and what a formative period of growth and development we have shared. For one thing, we are all the more resilient from the challenges lockdowns have given us to overcome.

Whilst the students (and I) are naturally sad as we experience this step change, I know they are now ready, thanks to the nurture and input of our supportive tutor team and expert subject teachers, for their next step. When I asked them if they would like to return this September and carry on studying in Sixth Form, they all chorused ‘no - it is time for us to move on!’ And they are quite right - new challenges, experiences and opportunities await them, and they are well-prepared for independent life. I want to wish them, and you, every good wish for their exams over the coming weeks. Year 12 are now moving up as they begin applying for leadership and learning ambassador roles at the top of the School.

Thank you to all our students for maintaining a sense of humour as we battled the wind and rain to have our Sixth Form photo taken on Wednesday!

Enjoy the weekend.
