Claires Court Maidenhead

from Nursery to Sixth Form

Mrs Wilding's Words Summer 1

The term’s topic of “The Great Outdoors” could not have had a better start with the wonderful weather and the children all outside enjoying the garden, pond and playground areas. The sound of laughter and having fun has been lovely these last three days and the new children seem to be adapting to their new environment very well.

Miss Green tells me that the Transition group have been observing the growth of the tadpoles in their room, talking about what they can see outside in our garden area and about the outdoors environment at home. The children all bounced back into the room and have had a very good start to the term.

The week commencing 23 April the Nursery children will still be settling in and Transition children will be learning about the plants and growing and the letter i.

Reminders

Hopefully we will have lots of sunny weather this term so please sign permission slips and provide named sun cream suitable for children if you wish the staff to put this on your child. Please put sun cream on your child each morning before arriving at the Nursery. Sun hats must be named.

With our large sandpit being used again on a daily basis and the children removing their shoes before climbing in, please send them in wearing footwear that they can manage themselves. Most children at this age are unable to manage shoe laces without adult support. We will also be on the main school sports field practising running on a regular basis so footwear needs to be appropriate for this (no Crocs please).

Please remember to cut grapes into quarters and do not send in nuts (including nut products such as Nutella) or kiwi fruit as we have some children with allergic reactions to these products. The best drink at lunchtime is water as fruit juices do contain a lot of sugar and the children do not brush their teeth at the end of the meal.

If your child is leaving Claires Court Nursery at the end of this term please ensure that you put notice in writing as soon as possible but at the latest by half term and include the name of the school they are transferring to. Children registered for Claires Court reception classes do not need to do this.
