Head's Words Summer Term Week 5
Sunflower seeds have started to grow, lettuce is appearing and cress has gone home to be enjoyed on salads or in sandwiches. The raised beds have been prepared ready for planting by the children with lots of help from their teachers so the feeling of summer has arrived. Let’s hope we have a successful growing season!
The weather this week has been so varied that it has been a great topic for the Transition children. They have had a busy week talking about and deciding their favourite weather and have created weather wheels, masks and symbols.
During the week commencing 16th May the nursery classes will be learning about woodland and parkland, the colour white, the number 5 and the letter w. Any small toys incorporating topic related objects and white would be ideal as their “Show and Tell” item this week. To support the topic all the children will be going up to the Junior Boys site in small groups this week and next. Transition children will continue learning about weather and the letters u,y and will also visit the Junior Boys site at Ridgeway.
Reminders
Please return your sessions booking sheets for the autumn term as soon as possible and by 24th May at the latest as I will be allocating space for new children after this date.
If sunshine is forecast please apply sun cream to your child before arriving and provide named sunhats. We will reapply sun creams if permission slips have been signed and a named cream provided.
Please send children in wearing shoes suitable for physical activities such as running and climbing. Now that the warmer weather is on the way the temptation is to wear shoes such as Crocs which are not ideal when using some of the nursery outdoors equipment or running and we want to avoid accidents. Many thanks for your cooperation in this matter.
