from Nursery to Sixth Form

Mrs Wilding's Weekly Words Lent 4

A huge thank you goes to Theo’s mummy (Honeycomb) as this week the children celebrated Chinese New Year, sampling food which she had so kindly prepared and which they thoroughly enjoyed. Some of the children made a good attempt with chopsticks whilst others used spoons or forks. They enjoyed some YouTube footage of the New Year celebrations and talked about the Chinese New Year story of the animals with particular reference to the year of the rat. Lovely paintings were created by using chopsticks as the 'mark making' tools, as well as small puppet dragons.

The fire drill on Tuesday showed how well your children can manage changes in routine and listen to and follow instructions.

We hosted our Open Day yesterday and many thanks for your recommendations with a big thank you to all the children who welcomed the visitors into their rooms, demonstrating their confidence, social skills and abilities in a wonderful way.

The Nursery rooms have been learning about their families and I am sure that you will enjoy the lovely display boards which have been created with your children’s work.

Transition children have been talking about friendships; what makes a good friend, what they like about their friends and how to make friends.

During the week commencing Monday 3 February the Nursery children will be learning about 'my home', the colour orange, the number 4 and the letter f. Any small toys incorporating these would be ideal as their 'show and tell' item this week. Transition children will also be learning about 'my home' and the letter h.

The cold cookery activity on Wednesday afternoon will be making pasta salads and the following ingredients will be used: pasta, cucumber, tomatoes, sweetcorn and tuna. As always, we will have a list of ingredients if you wish to check for any allergens. Please collect the food made by your child from after school care if using this service. Each week I find something has been left which is a shame as your child will not have eaten the food they so carefully prepared!

 Reminders

  • The session sheets for the summer term commencing Wednesday 22 April have been sent home so please return these as soon as possible, at the latest by Wednesday 12 February. Having returned them, if you do not hear from me then you can assume that you have got the sessions requested.
